Additionally, it is impossible to know when the story was meant to take place. Then there are all of these ex-Nazis running around getting in the way of the protagonists and the author keeps referenc The e-book is riddled with editing errors, which is distracting and annoying, although the story is fast-paced and engaging.
Then there are all of these ex-Nazis running around getting in the way of the protagonists and the author keeps referencing 40 years after WWII - okay, so these are some really spry 60 year old guys and it's sometime in the 80's.
But then Zoe steals a hard drive and references Windows No, just no. There are none of Hitler's Nazi cohorts serving as bodyguards in the same universe where there is Windows And the ingot hadn't been seen in 60 years.
Terrible editing. Jul 31, Detroit rated it it was ok. I was not excited at all by this book. At times it takes a few chapters to get wrapped up in the authors world but sadly that never happened for me while reading Daughter of God.
Similar subject matter but gripping from the first page to the last. Jun 14, Anewbold62 rated it did not like it.
After an intriguing and insightful set up religious history, storyline and main characters, the book quickly lost its luster. Ridiculous plot changes, character inconsistencies, and a very quirky digital publication that continually left out punctuation and dropped words constantly, I found myself ironically praying for strength to just get through it.
Sep 26, Michael Anderson rated it it was ok. Great premise, but the writing was stodgy and not as compelling as I would like to keep the pages turning.
Jan 14, Gheeta rated it really liked it. I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this. It's a very intriguing storyline, with decently developed characters.
Jan 25, Jason rated it really liked it. Good book. And I don't see the parallels to Dan Brown novels. The only similarity is the involvement of the Catholic Church.
Mar 31, Robin rated it it was ok. Too much like a Dan Brown. Feb 16, Brad rated it it was amazing. Really enjoyed this one Feb 25, Rena DeBerry rated it it was ok.
Grammatically correct but not a smooth read. I finished the book because the premise was interested but because the because the writing style was so stiff it made finishing the book difficult.
Sep 13, Puji Astuti rated it did not like it. Dec 18, Johan rated it liked it. I purchased this on Nook and it has enough editing problems that I had difficulty enjoying it.
The concept is sound and interesting, Sophia era characters could be developed better, historical research well done, but it needs a couple more rewrites to be a really good book.
It definitely needs better editing as it doesn't flow as well as it might. I find the concept of a feminine Christ to be fascinating and totally probable.
If you read it, You will find that it's a lot like Dan Brown style. What made me get it was the possible plot behind, although I knew it that it was not the kind of story that I enjoy.
There a lot of details that make it worthed but it leaves you hanging and wishing for more. The idea of the second female messiah it could have been more, it's very small information about it.
It's not satisfying. The author did his research, wrote a fluent story but it lacked something. Jun 24, Heidi rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: everyone.
Shelves: thought-provoking , religiousconspiracy. Perdue trumps Brown 10 times over. While I admit that I was entertained and even briefly intrigued with the DaVinci ties; having said that, this book is so much more worth the time.
While there are fewer "researchable" references than Brown's, the idea is so much sweeter. I highly recommend this May 22, Lisa H.
Covers some of the same ground as and keeps getting connected to, for some reason The DaVinci Code - the underlying question is about the existence of a female historical figure from the days of early Christianity - but the writing and plot development are much, much better, and Perdue didn't appropriate his storyline wholesale from another writer.
Mar 22, Msweds01 rated it liked it. DoG is a pretty entertaining book, it started really slow but after I got into it the rest of it read pretty easily.
It gets compared to the Da Vinci Code for some very obvious plot reasons and while it was worth reading, it just didn't have the same exciting vibe as DVC.
If you liked DVC its certainly worth checking out. Dec 18, Karina rated it it was ok. I tried to give this book a chance, but a fourth of the way through I had to put it down.
I just finished reading The Da Vinci Code a few months ago, and loved it. If I contiuned reading I would have just felt this sense of deja vu the whole time.
Mar 27, Jane rated it liked it. I think this is very similiar to The Da Vinci code. There is much intrigue - a mystery that will change the Western World as we know it - and is influenced by the Catholic Church.
Interesting idea Jul 17, Mike Bleed rated it liked it Shelves: , thriller , religion. A great concept to the novel, it turns out to be no more than a very typical action page turner.
I loved the bits of historical fiction thrown in, but could have done without the over the top heroics throughout.
Sep 25, Kosta Angelou rated it it was amazing. I must say, I've read a lot of books but very few in my humble opinion measure up to this one.
Excellent flow throughout the entire book and very intense. My heart was literary beating won't give details away Dec 28, Beth Lee rated it really liked it.
I liked it! It's a weird kind of book for me. When I was reading it, I didn't want to put it down. But when I put it down I wasn't "dying"to pick it up again.
All and all a good novel. DaVinci Code-ish and I like this genre. Actual rate : 3. Fictional book similar to The Da Vinci Code.

I'm the grandson on my mother's side of a powerful Mississippi Delta planter who owned two plantations. On my father's side, there are university presidents, professors and a U.
Senator who created Jim Crow segregation when he wrote the Mississippi state constitution. I got kicked out of Ole Miss for leading a civil rights march.
And I never dreamed I'd write books. I was a fat nerd always building weird science things in the garage, blanking out the local television station in Jackson Mississippi and winning science fairs all up through the international level.
I thought I'd always be a scientist. But after being kicked out of Ole Miss in , described in my thriller, Perfect Killer. Perfect Killer is an incredibly personal novel for me because the hero's story is my own coming-of-age story in the s and describes much of my family history.
Anyway, after the riot at Ole Miss I found myself disinherited and thrown out of the entire state. I landed, eventually, at Cornell University after working in a factory in Horseheads New York and getting an associates degree from a great two-year school, Corning Community College where my English professor, John Orser, told me he thought I had writing ability.
Needing a way to pay my way through college, I began as a sports reporter for the Elmira Star-Gazette.
While the mother visited with friends, the boy slipped quietly away. Keep playing. Soon his right arm reached around the other side, encircling the child, to add a running obbligato.
Together, the old master and the young novice held the crowd mesmerized. Besides, as President Hugh B.
We all owe a great debt of gratitude to Eve. In the Garden of Eden, she and Adam were instructed not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
President Joseph F. Smith recorded his vision of the hosts of the dead, in which he saw the great and mighty, and among them Adam and Eve.
As daughters of God, you cannot imagine the divine potential within each of you. In this you equal and even surpass men, as you do in faith, morality, and commitment when truly converted to the gospel.
You cannot imagine the gifts and talents each of you has. All women have appealing features. I do not refer to model-type appeal, but rather that which comes from your personality, your attitude, and your expressions.
I urge you to enhance the natural, God-given, feminine gifts with which you have been so richly blessed. None of you should be so content that you cease to care about how you look or act.
In his day, President Brigham Young encouraged women to get an education. This is still good counsel, but I hasten to add: in all your getting, do not lose your sweet femininity.
You sisters do not know the full extent of your influence. You sisters enrich all of humanity. All human life begins with you.
Each woman brings her own separate, unique strengths to the family and the Church. Being a daughter of God means that if you seek it, you can find your true identity.
You will know who you are. It means that you can find strength in the balm of Christ. It will help you meet the heartaches and challenges with faith and serenity.
I wonder if you sisters can fully appreciate the innate gifts, blessings, and endowments you have simply because you are daughters of God.
It is a mistake for women to think that life begins only with marriage. A woman can and must have an identity and feel useful, valued, and needed whether she is single or married.
She must feel that she can do something for someone else that no one else ever born can do. The prophets of God have repeatedly assured faithful, unmarried women that they can be exalted.
Exaltation requires that the candidates receive the ordinances and the sealing blessings, which means, of course, that they would be sealed to a worthy priesthood bearer in the next life and enjoy all of the blessings of marriage.
My great-aunt Ada never married. When I was a young boy, my brothers and I slept out in the enclosed back porch of our small home.
One day I was jumping on the bed, trying to see how high I could go. I jumped too close to the wall and tore part of my face on a nail that was sticking out.
I need some excuse for the way I look! Aunt Ada was called to come and sew up the wound. She came with mustard plasters and burned our chests when we had colds.
Today when I have aches and pains, which is becoming more frequent as I get older, I wish Aunt Ada were here to keep me healthy. She filled a precious, loving role in my life.
With all my heart I urge you sisters who have received your endowments to seek the blessings, peace, and comfort of the temple.
Temple worthiness affords a great spiritual protection even for sisters who do not have regular access to the blessings of the temple.
In His infinite wisdom, the Lord requires worthy brethren to wear the mantle of the priesthood in order to enter the temple, but He permits the sisters to enter solely by virtue of their personal worthiness.
A few years ago, after attending the temple for the first time, a sister wrote:. My eyes, ears, and heart opened wide to absorb its teachings.
I felt the reality of each covenant I made within every fiber and bone of my body. I felt I was standing right in front of the Lord each time I made covenants with him.
The influence of the Lord was so great that I had no desire to leave the temple after the session was over.
It became real to me then that I was surely in the world but not of it. Four weeks later, she went through the temple on behalf of her mother and wrote:.
The influence of the Holy Spirit in the room was so strong that I broke down in tears while being sealed to my parents. I truly experienced a reunion with them.
As stated in the Relief Society declaration, you are beloved spirit daughters of God. Since the beginning of this dispensation, the many contributions of the sisters to this holy cause have been truly magnificent.
I witness and testify to you sisters that never in the history of the world has there been a greater need for your righteousness, your example, and your good works to move forward this holy work than now.
My beloved sisters, I pray that the divine gifts in each of you may fully flower. May your rich womanly endowments of spiritual strength, goodness, tenderness, mercy, and kindness find full expression.
This will happen as you serve the Lord, your families, and your fellow beings. May the Lord bless you to do this, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.I purchased this on Nook and it has enough editing problems that I had difficulty enjoying it.
